Despite my reluctance to start a blog--in fear that my mother will be the only one still reading it at the end of the semester--here I am. This is the place where you can come to read about my travels, studies, interactions and adventures in Costa Rica over the course of the next 3.5 months.
Tomorrow morning, I will fly from LaCrosse, WI to Miami with a layover in Chicago. In Miami--Hurricane Isaac permitting--I will meet up with other students from Northwestern and other American schools and we will fly to San José, Costa Rica: our new home.
My bags are almost all packed, and most of my goodbyes have been said. Today is about tying up loose ends and enjoying my last day of being around other tall, fair-skinned, English-speaking people. I am both excited and nervous. This is my first time leaving the country, and I am looking forward to life in a different culture. I have heard such wonderful things about Costa Rica, and it is an honor to have this opportunity. I will miss you all, and I look forward to sharing this new chapter in my life with you!
NOTE: I have enabled the comments feature on this blog to allow posts from anyone. So please feel free to comment throughout the semester! I would love to hear from you.
Summary: I'm going to Costa Rica for 3.5 months, leaving tomorrow. I am excited and nervous, and I plan to keep you posted. Leave comments.

I'm glad you enjoy coffee now because that will be something you'll really want to experience in the land that it's grown. I hope Isaac isn't a nuisance for you. Love you!!
